Successful but weary art designer Rick Todd (Jeff Chandler) concedes to the demand of his advertising firm's vice president, widow Gwen Taylor (Laraine Day), to travel to a small town and recruit a famous artist for a campaign. When Rick grudgingly makes the trip, he meets Timmy Harkinson (Tim Hovey) -- who, unknown to Rick, is Gwen's son. Timmy has been fabricating fantastic tales about his absent father at his school, and Rick perfectly fits the bill to assume the role.
