Go-Get-'Em, Haines (1936) is a fast-paced, no-nonsense crime mystery from the heyday of B-movie thrillers. Directed by Sam Newfield, one of the most prolific directors of Poverty Row studios, the film delivers exactly what its title promises: a scrappy, quick-talking protagonist chasing down leads, dodging danger, and unraveling a tangled case.

Bill Boyd (not to be confused with William "Hopalong Cassidy" Boyd) takes the lead role and carries the film with plenty of energy and charisma. His portrayal of the determined, wisecracking reporter Haines feels right at home in the rapid-fire dialogue and hard-boiled world of 1930s crime pictures. The supporting cast is solid, with Eleanor Hunt providing a capable and charming foil.

At just under an hour, the film moves briskly, wasting no time on unnecessary subplots or filler. Its compact runtime and straightforward plotting give it a kind of stripped-down charm — a reminder of the era when movies like this were a staple of double features.

While it’s not a genre standout or a particularly polished production, Go-Get-'Em, Haines is a fun, lively little mystery for fans of vintage crime dramas and classic B-picture energy. It captures the plucky, streetwise spirit of the 1930s pressroom thrillers and remains an enjoyable watch for those who appreciate the style.
